Our last meeting was May 12th as we were not able to have a meeting in June due to the absence of several key members either on holiday (me) or committed to meetings elsewhere. Many members give freely of their time to other organisations in Saltash and sometimes there are conflicts. But it is recognised that the Chamber is the body in Saltash that represents all sectors of the business community but always tries to do so to benefit the community as a whole. With this in mind four members of the Chamber are members either directly or, because they represent the Town or County Councils, indirectly, of Town Team. As such we are proud of our achievements to date with the markets and the new planters/seating/signage in Fore Street. Members were asked at our last meeting if there was anything specific that Town Team should be looking at to improve footfall in Fore Street and car parking seems to be such an issue.
The main topic of conversation at the Chamber meeting was the website and IT ideas. It was agreed that the website needed updating and it was explained that one of the ways of doing so was to update the membership and for members to submit more detail so the website became a better promotion of the Chamber and all its members. It was also agreed to update the Facebook page.
Members were updated on the proposal for a Christmas lights switch on separate to the Festival and that the date of the switch on would be the 14th November. A further meeting was due with the Town Council to make final arrangements. M/s Frank was congratulated on the highly successful Mayfair and Mr. Miller was thanked for finding a new location for the storage of the Chamber events trailer.
